Solo River City’s noisy alternative rock act Car Crash Coma has just released a new single called “Poison Garden”. The band describe the single as a pack-a-punch rock anthem against sexism. It’s a grungy-emo track that recalls alternative music in the 90s, a trend that has been brought back to life by bands such as Swain and Fiddlehead in recent years. The track also features production by Adly Afandhy who utilized the project as a final year assignment for his study at Music Engineering School, and mixed the track at Abbey Road Studio, Westminster.

The song was inspired by the lead singer’s personal experience in handling a rape victim who happened to be his closest person. However such cases happen quite frequently in their surrounding, and since no one speaks out on the issue, the band take a step about it.

You can listen to “Poison Garden” on Car Crash Coma’s Bandcamp page, on which they have also provided the song lyrics as well as a campaign they bring alongside the song.

Car Crash Coma itself was originated as the solo endeavour of their singer/guitarist, the project then quickly evolved into a five-piece band. The band have been self-releasing a number of EPs and singles since early 2019.

According to a press release, the band is currently preparing for a full-length debut SEDATIVE, which is anticipated to arrive at the end of 2021. With the help of Senja Dalam Prosa’s former guitarist Fidellis Altara behind the board, the record is going to be their darkest and most offensive release yet.

Meanwhile, another EP called “The Worst Of The Worst!” is going to be dropped sooner than later via 838A Records (Malaysia), Peachy Daze Records (Bandung) and Unleash Records (Solo).
