The new New Balance x WTAPS “Shades of Grey” Collaboration
New Balance strike again with another banging collaboration, this time they working with WTAPS on New Balance 990v2 and matching apparel pieces.
“We know that WTAPS, like us, has something to do with the color gray, so the combination of NB x WTAPS and the 990 franchise model makes perfect sense”, said Joe Grondin, who works on New Balance‘s collaborations.
This collaboration featuring a lineup of 4 types of apparel and footwear. Since was released in 1988, the base model is 990v2 has gained popularity every time it is reprinted. Much like its 992WT counterpart, the upcoming 990v2 comes in a palette rooted in Nishiyama’s military inclinations. The shoe colorway serves as a reinterpretation of NB’s iconic grey tones with a slightly muted look and is decorated with embroidery of the “WTAPS” logo and embossed with the “USA” logo.
For apparel, we adopted the design details and patterns of the “WTAPS® ACADEMY” series, which is basic training wear in seasonal colors and graphics, and developed Made in U.S.A. and produced at New Balance’s California factory. Features Crew sweatshirts, hooded sweatshirts, T-shirts, long with graphics and logos inspired by New Balance’s representative footwear 99X series. Available in two colors, gray and navy, which are the iconic coloring common to both brands.
New Balance x WTAPS collaboration will be available on August 27th at T-HOUSE New Balance and the official online stores of New Balance and Double Taps and soon will be sold by lottery on the web at all stores.
