Last week, I had a great talk with Midwest Opinion Radio about Healing Children. We talked about my passion for children’s medicine, and why I think it is so important for parents to advocate for their child’s needs at the pediatrician and hospital the same way they advocate for them on the playing field or in the classroom. After more than 30 years taking care of kids, I know it is crucial for a child’s care team to include his or her parents — the people who know them best. I want every parent to feel comfortable being a true champion for their children. The best way to get started is to make a care plan BEFORE a medical emergency occurs, so you don’t have to make snap decisions under stress about what to do and where to go.
