This month, the Washington Post listed Healing Children to their best seller list. I can’t tell you how happy I am to see that the messages of the book are resonating and that readers are connecting to the stories of my truly inspiring and brave young patients.

When I first decided to pursue writing a book, my primary goal was to empower parents with all I’ve learned over three decades in pediatric medicine. Over the years, countless friends have called me asking for help and advice when their children are sick. But not everyone has access to a pediatric specialist they can call in the middle of the night with questions or concerns.

I want Healing Children to be that resource for families.

I’ve spent this past summer crisscrossing the country, talking to community groups, industry leaders, and peer health systems about Healing Children and why we need to do more to prioritize our nation’s kids. It has been the thrill of a lifetime to see that enthusiasm for Healing Children is strong and growing — not only among parents — but also with colleagues in the private sector and academia, policy leaders, and peers in healthcare and medicine.

Your support is a testament to the strength of our community of practice, and to the shared commitment we all have to doing the best we can for kids.
