It was my first encounter with sea in Jan 2015 and I was super excited.

Pondicherry was under France and considered as capital of French India (French establishments in India) before it got independence in 1954 and was finally merged in Indian Union in 1962. Pondicherry still has French colony which is one of the main tourist attractions there.

The Promenade — Is the liveliest of all places in Pondicherry. With the enthralling view of Bay of Bengal , it is situated near Goubert Ave, White Town, also known as French Colony. You will find many tourists and locals enjoying morning and evening stroll on The Promenade.

There is a cafe on The Promenade called Le Cafe and is usually crowded as it is the only cafe there. Other then this there are some stalls selling fruits, corns, bhel-puri etc.

It is a very good sunrise spot. We visited in the morning and were happily surprised to see “rangoli” competition going with many people making beautiful rangolis.
