As we navigate through this week, key developments continue to unfold, promising new avenues and innovation. Leading the way this week — A light wallet platform, Lace, has incorporated Web3 principles into its open-source platform, while the Catalyst team provided an analysis of the progress made during Fund9 and announced exciting updates for Fund10, and Input Output Global is sponsoring the Rare Evo 2023 event as a major sponsor.

Project Catalyst

During this week’s town hall the Catalyst team provided an in-depth analysis of the progress made during the extended Fund9 cooldown. They also highlighted some exciting new updates to anticipate in Fund10. Be sure to stay tuned and register your attendance for the upcoming town hall.

The team also published a Fund10 blog post announcing the relaunch of Project Catalyst hot on the heels of its 500th completed project! This blog post explains the vision, mission, and values of Project Catalyst and the new features and improvements introduced in Fund10.

Some of these features include:

  • Milestone-based funding module — UI and workflow for transparency and security
  • The continuous testnet — enabling a running fund to test new iterations of Project Catalyst
  • A new challenge-setting process that allows the community to propose and vote for each fund’s most relevant and impactful challenges
  • A new process that simplifies and streamlines the steps for creating and submitting a proposal
  • Voting app improvements that enable secure and convenient voting on mobile devices
  • A new feedback mechanism that allows proposers and voters to communicate and collaborate more effectively
  • A new governance framework that defines the roles and responsibilities of different stakeholders in Project Catalyst.

Introducing ibc-go v7.1.0

The Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol keeps evolving towards creating a wide set of features that improve the UX and pave the way for new interchain applications to emerge. The latest IBC release brings exciting new features that strengthen the interchain; notable improvements are:

  • Introduced support for Localhost client — a powerful UX improvement, allowing users to interact with multiple smart contracts/modules on the same chain using a single interface.
  • Introduced functionality for recording total escrowed tokens — extremely useful for rate-limiting IBC transfers to and from chains.

The Cosmos eco is well positioned to have multiple blockchains building Web3 infrastructure due to interoperability and a customizable stack. In the Cloud Storage field, Jackal Protocol is introducing ‘’Parallel Consensus Spheres’’, a novel model to scale storage networks.

Zondax builds Cosmos

As core developers for Cosmos, the team at Zondax is dedicated to making significant contributions to the ecosystem. They have been focused on several areas, including hardware wallet support, cryptography, and the integration of Rosetta into the Cosmos SDK.

They are also the author of the ‘’Sign Mode Textual’’ which is a new sign mode that allows hardware devices to sign transactions more securely and efficiently. Cosmos SDK used to rely on a sign mode called Amino Json Mode to sign transactions.
