Abstract

To ready oneself to take on the next phase in blockchain infrastructure buildouts, the KysenPool team performed an engineering lift to migrate its data center with live operational nodes in the Cosmos Network ecosystem to a new location — now domiciled in a jurisdiction with clear regulatory framework, the KysenPool team applied Moore’s Law to double its compute and storage capacity and drastically improved its chain verification performance.

🏗 Migration Complete!

As KysenPool continues to embrace a vision of bolstered infrastructure across multiple blockchain networks, the team has meticulously migrated to a new data center situated in a regulatory-friendly zone. This calculated move is aimed at enhancing performance via hardware upgrades and fortifying security with the continued use of hardware security modules (HSMs).

As a result, our network signing uptimes went from 98.2% to 99.5%, with most of the missed blocks due to a handful of Cosmos block proposers enforcing a shorter timeline requirement parameter from other Cosmos validators to verify blocks.

This upgrade was mainly tied to our 🌐 KysenPool Sky☁️ validator which is backed by the HSM — this required careful planning of provisioning new hardware before we perform the cutover. We timed it with the Cosmos Gaia v13 Upgrade before pulling the trigger to migrate to a new data center.

We are glad that we performed this without any double signing events and kept our record clean from any slashing (or jailed) events in the history of the validator.

4 Years and counting…

YES, it’s been 4 years since KysenPool launched first on the Cosmos Network with an airgapped system to generate the initial keys for the HSM, and it hasn’t been easy to keep a secure infrastructure running through cosmoshub-2, cosmoshub-3 and now cosmoshub-4 in the Cosmos Hub roadmap.

By navigating this pivotal phase, we are not only elevating the operational efficiency of our validators but also championing the decentralization tenets quintessential to the Web3 framework. As we charter this promising trajectory, we beckon the community of Web3 developers and investors to engage with us over Telegram and Twitter in this substantial stride towards optimizing the fundamental layers of blockchain technology across diverse networks.

Unlock the Power of Staking with Our Trusted Blockchain Infrastructure Services!

We aim to decentralize the Proof-of-Stake blockchain ecosystem. We’re highly familiar with the Tendermint-based blockchains such as Cosmos, Kava, Quicksilver; Ethereum and EVM-chains like Harmony; and substrate-based chains such as Cardano. Our global team is continuously improving our automations and constantly monitoring our operations to ensure high availability and resilience.

Our infrastructure is a hybrid of data centers bolstered with Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), and distributed globally at multiple Cloud providers. Our mission is to help provide a sound infrastructure, tooling and services, so that developers can build with confidence. We hope you like our contributions into the ecosystems that we support.
