Cosmos Hub Engineering Update by Informal Systems 👉 Blog Post!

This covers the engineering update for the period Apr-May’23 which included:

  • The First Interchain Security Chain— Neutron Launch Retro
  • Multi-sig issues report and fixed
  • Hub emergency upgrade for validators able to use the key assignment transaction from their multi-sigs and Ledger devices
  • Neutron launch
  • How does Replicated Security work for un-bonding and how can this be avoided in the future
  • Soft opt-out feature which allows the smallest 5% of validators on the Hub to opt out of running the consumer chain
  • Completed standalone to consumer migration code (Stride will use this during their launch)
  • Oak Audit review

ADR-8: IBC Actor Callbacks

IBC has been limited to callbacks between core IBC (also referred to as the transport layer) and application modules only. The solution to this problem is ADR-8. With the release of ADR-8 Actor Callbacks, IBC applications will be able to perform multiple and complex interactions in a single user flow. The user from one single interface will be able to engage with multiple on-chain modules or smart contracts.

Mesh Security

Osmosis, Axelar, Akash Network, and the ATOM Accelerator are joining forces to bring Mesh Security to the Cosmos through an Interchain partnership.

In models like Interchain Security (ICS), security flows in one direction: down from a parent chain in a hub-and-spoke fashion. In contrast, with Mesh Security, chains combine their market caps for added (bi-directional or multi-lateral) security.

Unlock the Power of Staking with Our Trusted Blockchain Infrastructure Services!

We aim to decentralize the Proof-of-Stake blockchain ecosystem. We’re highly familiar with the Tendermint-based blockchains such as Cosmos, Kava, Quicksilver; Ethereum and EVM-chains like Harmony; and substrate-based chains such as Cardano. Our global team is continuously improving our automations and constantly monitoring our operations to ensure high availability and resilience.

Our infrastructure is a hybrid of data centers bolstered with Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), and distributed globally at multiple Cloud providers. Our mission is to help provide a sound infrastructure, tooling and services, so that developers can build with confidence. We hope you like our contributions into the ecosystems that we support.
