Who knows why the geese go barefoot? (Second-Edition, 2019)

My second edition narrative on Kühner (Keener) Genealogie an Amerika, Who knows why the geese go barefoot?, is now available in eBook and paperback format. The title comes from the German version of a Dutch idiom that is illustrated in Netherlandish Proverbs (in Dutch: Nederlandse Spreekwoorden), a 1559 oil-on-oak-panel painting by the Flemish artist Pieter Bruegel the Elder that offers literal illustrations of Dutch language proverbs and idioms. According to Wikipedia, the proverb means “There is a reason for everything, though it may not be obvious.” In German the proverb, Wer weiß, warum die Gänse barfuß gehen, translates literally as “who knows why the geese go barefoot” and is basically a more artful way of saying “that’s just how it is.”
