How We Met

Hi World,

I am Imane, He is Oliver

I am Moroccan, He is German

I am Muslim, He is Christian

we are a song and this website is our melody!

And this is how we met:

It was just another summer day, my bestfriend (may he rest in peace) Oussama had come to tell me about a website called Couchsurfing, he told me to create an account on it so he can have me as a first friend on his list.

I was careless about that random suggestion of his, so I let him set up the account for me, he would log in instead of me and some two days later, he calls me jokingly to say

“you girls are always luckier, I’ve been on that website for days and never got any invitation, you already have some 10 inbox messages and one of them is coming to Morocco this weekend”

In curiosity, I checked my inbox and there it was, the first message I read was that of Oliver, I replied to it assuming we’d never really meet. I was just so “meh” about the whole website thing

It was the weekend, I get a text message from a stanger, it was Oliver and he had arrived. I remember we were playing guitar, me and Oussama, and because he was a little bored with our out of tune singing, he decided we should meet Oliver and just enjoy the time together.

He had 4 days in Marrakesh, I remember we spent them together, it was strange to my bestfriend back then how we couldn’t keep our hands off each other, I remember him tell me once “I know, I know you’re seeing him again”.

I did see him again, once in Morocco, once in Dusseldorf where I met his lovely family, yes, that’s how “fast” we took it.

I have never used that website again, in fact, it’s as if Oussama opened that website for me to meet Olli especially, Oussama had passed away shortly after that summer, and I’ll always remember what his sister said “he lived to bring you love, that Is what angels do”

My story with Oliver has been written by the hands of fate, we have been together literally since we met, we had our ups and downs but our love spoke louder than any confusion, that is why today I’m marrying the man I met to make music with that summer day, we’re still making music today, in many different ways, this website is an attempt to share our music with the world, bring love and peace wherever we are.

We love the finer things in life, music, good books, good talks, silly talks, good food, cheese anytime and we’re always up for an adventure. This is a picture from our very first meeting in 2013 with my ex bestfriend Oussama:
