Tumble en Español is the first English language podcast for kids adapted into Spanish. Even though some of us at La Coctelera Music are parents, ‘Tumble’ is our first foray into children’s audio content. Here are a few reasons why we’re in love with the format — and why you don’t need to be a kid to enjoy it.

1. Podcasts are a great screen-free alternative

If you have kids, you probably are constantly on the lookout for content options that don’t require screens. And hey, if your child can learn something without having to sit still, even better. That’s why our partners at Tumble Media created an original approach to entertaining and educating through audio storytelling. And why we’ve adapted that successful podcast into Spanish.

As Tumble’s Lindsay Patterson writes:

“Podcasts are a screen-free, movement-enabling, ear-stimulating, and eye-opening way to deliver content and kids are deep and meaningful listeners. Just the act of listening to a good narrative helps children become better learners”.

2. Tumble en Español is not only for children ;)

Tumble en Español’s intended audience are kids: the hosts speak slowly and clearly, and science facts and discoveries are explained for a general audience, with practical examples and rich storytelling. So, if you’re not a science geek per se, you can learn all about cool science happenings along with your child and take away at least one or two awesome facts you can boast about at the next BBQ event or cocktail hour.

Our goal is to satisfy your curiosity and provide families with a better understanding of the world that surrounds them. Why are cheetahs so fast? What would happen if the moon just disappeared?

3. Tumble en Español is a great language learning tool

On our podcast, you’ll hear a mix of different accents from the Spanish-speaking world: our hosts and guests are Puerto Rican, Mexican, Colombian, Spanish… This plus the fact that the pace of the delivery is slower than most podcasts can be very helpful for those adults and kids who are starting to learn Spanish or are already exposed to Spanish as a second language and need further immersion in the language.

Tumble en Español’s diversity of accents makes the show a richer and elevated listening experience.

Bonus… we are a multicultural and bilingual team

Both Tumble Media and La Coctelera Music understand the importance of children speaking more than one language.

Studies have shown that children who speak more than one language develop creative and multitasking skills. Lindsay and Marshall –founders of Tumble Media and hosts of Tumble Science Podcast for Kids – lived in Barcelona, where they met Nuria and Alvaro. It was there that the idea for Tumble en Español was born. And the rest, as they say….es historia.
