Adidas Originals’ striking new film stars Stormzy, Dev Hynes, Petra Collins and Mabel

Adidas Originals release new short film ‘ORIGINAL is never finished’. The visually striking video provides a provocative look at today’s streetwear culture, featuring “visionaries from the worlds of music, art, skate, and sport”. Starring Stormzy, Dev Hynes, Petra Collins, Mabel and more.

Hot on the heels of Nike’s collaboration with FKA Twigs entitled “Do You Believe In More?” arguably one of the edgiest sport videos ever created. Adidas have reasserted their dominance with the thrilling short ‘ORIGINAL is never finished’.

The brand with the three stripes drops a film that is part threatening yet pleasantly euphoric, and features a rework of Frank Sinatra’s iconic song ‘My Way’. The video is littered with cultural references, notably Canadian photographer Petra Collins appearing alongside a MacBook and wielding an iPhone as a modern incarnation of Botticelli’s Venus. The stellar cast also includes Stormzy, Dev Hynes, Snoop Dogg, Mabel and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, amongst others.

‘ORIGINAL is never finished’ emphasises the importance of brand ambassadors, and the art of aligning the right individuals to your brand to maintain relevance with the consumer. It is also an ode to today’s creators, hoping to inspire them to redefine their meaning of originality. “The film explores this idea that driving culture forward can recreate the idea of what is truly original.”
