Debuting this Summer, Fyre elevates the term ‘festival’ to pave way for an unprecedented experience that caters for Luxurians

Based on a private island in the Bahama’s, Fyre Festival is a two weekend event that is guaranteed to be the stomping ground for well known models, artists and influencers who will share the island with like-minded festival enthusiasts and luxury fanatics. “Goods and services are no longer enough; what consumers want are experiences — memorable events that engage each individual in an inherently personal way” (Business of Fashion, 2016) — which is exactly what Fyre Festival will aim to deliver this Summer.

The event doesn’t come cheap, with prices starting from $1750, Fyre is not necessarily aimed at regular festival-goers but consumers who see beyond general materials and products — those who chose to invest in completely immersive surroundings and meaningful encounters from which they can draw inspiration and purpose.

The choice to travel on a private plane or a private boat, or the choice to accommodate in lodge or on a yacht; the weekend is somewhat customisable based on budget — though Fyre Festival customers are unlikely to be restrained by a ‘budget’, focusing more on the experiences they want to take away fro the trip.

The festival, ensured to be heavily documented on social media, is likely to become an aspirational destination for consumers everywhere, by virtue of affiliates and they’re extensive following. Already endorsed by the likes of Alessandra Ambrosio and Elsa Hosk in an apparent marketing campaign, Kendall Jenner was added to the mix last week after announcing on Instagram that members of G.O.O.D Music will be amongst the first to headline at the festival — alongside Major Lazer and Disclosure.

With around 32 million people attending at least one festival in the US each year (Nielsen, 2015) and the new consumer need for ‘experience’, it’s hardly surprising that the components are being married together to create the ultimate luxury Millennial episode.
