Renowned Dutch streetwear brand Patta celebrate their collaboration with American heritage brand Carhartt by releasing a short film.

As the streetwear industry continues to rapidly grow, there is no doubt that brands are attempting to distinguish themselves from the competition by venturing into other forms of art. Essentially utilising them as a marketing tool, but also portraying themselves as a multi-disciplinary brand. Teaming up with with Amsterdam-based film production company Halal and aspiring director Mees Peijnenburg, Patta created a performance-based minute long short film.

Peijnenburg employs his distinctive style, as the engaging narrative follows French performance artist and Pigalle affiliate, Oko Ebombo, around Paris. The city usually acclaimed for its love and rich culture of art forms, the minute long visual proves to provide a clear juxtaposition. Ebombo performs a variety of contemporary routines around numerous urban locations, such as the infamous ‘Orgues de Flandre’ housing estate designed by Martin van Trek in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. The film, shot over two days, is accompanied by a classical music box soundtrack in the background- while the Super 8 inspired camerawork cuts through cinematic shots of the bustling city.

The short film indicates Patta is ready to be taken seriously within the streetwear industry, exhibiting the brand’s creative aesthetic in forms other than clothing. They are also expanding overseas by opening their first flagship store in London.
