Alvaro Obregon became the president of Mexico leading the country to victory in the revolution. Obregon was the president with the huge undertaking of constructing Mexico into new prosperity, this included restoration socially, politically, and economically.

This was an extremely difficult task for Obregon. The Crom party of moderate laborers helped to ally with the government and create a stable environment politically. There were many other groups with different political agendas that would always stand in opposition of Obregon.

Because of this opposition, Obregon had to fight for what he believed in. One way that he did this was by creating alliances and compromising on some of his beliefs. He had to make these connections with the leaders and the elitists. It was the only way to make a solid government. These alliances also helped with the foreign debt. The Bucareli agreements helped to solidify the alliance between Mexico and the United States of America, by creating a connection between the two countries. This was a tie that helped eliminate rebellion further down the road.

After Obregon’s success as president Plutarco Elias Calles became the new president of Mexico. He was able to create new policies without disrupting the alliances that had already been formed. Development defined this time period, and reform brought a new wave of growth in infrastructure. The radio was one of the most widely used invention of the time. They were able to have better communication politically because of the speed of the radio.

The Catholic Church struggled with their rights as Calles anti-religious spirit affected the policies concerning religion. His attempt at claiming power over the Catholic church was met with rebellion and revolution. The United States was able to assist with this disagreement by sending the ambassador, Dwight Morrow. The majority of Mexicans remained in poverty during this time, even with the increase that the two presidents had provided.
