LinkedIn recently unveiled its top-ranked start-ups in Australia, the U.S., Canada, the U.K., the Netherlands, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Brazil and Mexico.

The professional networking site analysed billions of data points generated by its 645 million members to hone in on four main criteria: employee growth, job-seeker interest, LinkedIn member engagement with the start-up and its employees, and how well each start-up attracted talent from LinkedIn’s flagship Top Companies list.

To make the list, start-ups also had to be operating for a maximum period of seven years, have at least 50 employees, and be privately held with an Australian head office.

The following table gives a quick overview of Australia’s 25 hottest start-ups by industry, estimated head count and the value chain component they’re disrupting:

The list highlights Australia’s vibrant start-up community.

It’s also heavy on financial services, including a few digital neobanks (Judo, Volt, and Xinja) which look well-placed to capitalise on the launch of Open Banking in February next year.

Also, one of the start-ups featured in LinkedIn’s article, Barhead Solutions, reported 16,330% revenue growth (according to Deloitte) in its first three years of business (might be worth a closer look!)
