Young adults make up a significant percentage of adults that use Twitter. News organizations are recognizing and adapting the way they push out news to this age group, each in a unique way. Many Twitter users between the ages of 18 and 29 use the social media platform to receive their news, or at least get an idea as to what is going on so that they can do further research.

If young adults who are educated are more likely to use Twitter, what does that say about how they use Twitter? This social media platform is often used as a source to receive news, and multiple organizations are taking part in it.

Each news organization is catering their tweets towards young adults in efforts to interest the audience and get them to engage with their story.

For example, BuzzFeed News captures the attention of its followers by creating a tweet that looks to be very long. This tweet also provides a piece of information that could entice a user to click on their article.

While the New York Times uses strong, compelling photos to attract attention of young adults.

CNN often uses short video clips of a news broadcast to tease Twitter users of a story that they can find on cnn.com. Increasing traffic to the news organization’s website from Twitter.

Because young adults are living in such a fast, digital world, news organizations need to stand out in order to attract their eye. With the use of photos and unique formatting, young adults are more likely to at least stop their scrolling to read or share articles.
