Instagram is not always seen in a bright light by photographers, usually ‘old-school’ photographers. But if you are with the times, you should know Instagram is one of the greatest tools of all time created for photography. To prove Instagram is useful to the professional photographer, here is a list of 10 photographers who have taken advantage of this awesome platform.

  1. Adam Senatori @adamsenatori

Have you ever wanted to be able to fly? Well, sprout your imaginary wings with Adam Senatori’s Instagram feed. This creator CAN fly, using metal airplane wings of course. But he is generous to share his gorgeous views with the rest of the world. Check him out: https://instagram.com/adamsenatori/

2. Hiroaki Fukud @hirozzzz

Structure. Fukud’s photos scream structure. If you have ever had interest in architecture, swing by this Instagram account. Buildings never looked so beautiful. While he may settle in Tokyo, his bounds are limitless, depicting all corners, bullnoses, and arches of the world in new, profound ways. https://instagram.com/hirozzzz/

3. Gareth Pon @garethpon

Urban, rural, architectural, organic, patterns, portraiture. Pon shoots it all. From his emotional portraits of children in South Africa to his jaw-dropping cityscapes, Pon uses Instagram for quality images, and quality images only. Some of his tricky angles might stump you, but it just proves he has a creator’s mind. Also, check out his #portraitsandwindows selection. https://instagram.com/garethpon/

4. Wyn Wiley @hashtagwynning

This is definitely one of my personal favorites. Wyn is a genius, or so I have heard. See for yourself at his Instagram, cleverly titled ‘hashtagwynning’. Wiley specializes in portraits, and man is he good at it. If you want to see personality expressed through portraiture, this is the place to look. https://instagram.com/hashtagwynning/

7. Cristina Mittermeier @cristinamittermeier

Did you think this list would be free of National Geographic photographers? It is not! Cristina Mittermeier is the living the photojournalist’s dream. Thank goodness for Instagram that we can keep up with her travels and exotic experiences just by checking our phone. I would attempt to categorize Mittermeier’s photography, but it is not possible to put her in a box. https://instagram.com/cristinamittermeier/

5. Jenna Routh @jennarouth

If you spend enough time on Jenna Routh’s Instagram feed, you will find yourself smiling at your screen. Jenna is the perfect example of how someone can be young, and still hold their own in the field of photography. Routh is working on her undergrad at Baylor University, but her photography is clearly ahead of its time. Her feed consists of the occasional selfie, but it’s OK, because the rest is taken up by stunning senior and wedding portraits. https://instagram.com/jennarouth/

6. Clark Little @clarklittle

Clark Little has long been know for his iconic photos of cresting ocean waves. Little knows how to keep up with the times. Currently, Little posts his most recent and favorite works to Instagram. Does he need Instagram? No. He could easily make a living off of his beautiful ocean scapes without social media, but he brilliantly uses Instagram to keep his work growing. https://instagram.com/clarklittle/

8. Thomas Peschak @thomaspeschak

Did you think there would only be one National Geographic photographer? Wrong again. Not only is Thomas Peschak a NatGeo Photographer, but he is also the Director of Conservation for the Save our Seas Foundation. Naturally, he uses Instagram as a platform for raising awareness for the needs of our oceans. https://instagram.com/thomaspeschak/

9. Julia Manchik @juliamanchik

Julia Manchik’s Instagram feed may seem like the typical, #basic Instagram; however, the images she posts are the high quality version of food, craft, and interior design photos your friends are striving for. Manchik also represents the youthful side of Instagram. You might think she’s immature, but her 61.8K followers would probably say different. https://instagram.com/juliamanchik/

10. Elizabeth Gadd @elizabethgadd

Whoa. That is all you will be saying as you scroll through this woman’s artwork. Gadd utilizes breath-taking landscapes such as the ones in New Zealand as backdrops for her unrivaled self-portraits. How does she do it?Who knows, but hopefully she keeps it up. https://instagram.com/elizabethgadd/
