Western Colorado is home to many things. Soaring mountains, raging rivers, incredible scenery and hardy, proud denizens. We’re also home to some incredible sources of food and drink. The water combined with access to locally sourced, superb ingredients makes Western Colorado a unique yet ideal place for distilling spirits. Here are six of the best distilleries that Western Colorado has to offer.

Peach Street Distillers

Located in Palisade, Colorado, Peach Street Distillers has been pumping out their incredible spirits since 2005. Nestled in among the wineries and orchards of this small town east of Grand Junction, Peach Street’s Jackelope Gin is a staple in the finer eating and drinking establishments in Western Colorado. Be sure to check out their extensive array of spirits and trendy gear.

Highlands Craft Distillery

Highlands Craft Distillery is a newer addition to Western Colorado’s stable of spirit procurers. Currently producing vodkas and gins, Highlands big draw are their finely-crafted cocktails coupled with a unique and beautiful patio. Their location has quickly become a favorite destination of Grand Junction spirit enthusiasts.

Marble Distilling Co. & The Distillery Inn

Marble Distillery boasts to be “The Most Sustainable Distillery on the Planet,” and they very well could be. Their state-of-the-art facility is able to reclaim thousands of gallons of water every year through a unique water-reclamation system. This only bolsters the reputation of their award-winning spirits. Located in Carbondale, Colorado, Marble Distillery is a locals staple, and their Gingercello Reserve is bar-none.

Montanya Distillers

Located in the scenic ski hamlet of Crested Butte, Montanya Distillers are known far and wide for their incredible rums. Montanya prides itself on their single-barrel, small batch method for good reason: it works. MD has won almost every major award that a distillery can, and the quality of their product has led to them shipping to 44 states and seven countries.

10th Mountain Whiskey and Spirit Company

Coloradans are fierce about their 10th Mountain Division history, and 10th Mountain Division Distillery focuses that fierceness into their superbly crafted whiskeys. Born in the Vail Valley, TMD is dedicated to preserving the history of Colorado’s most famous military unit within their spirits. Winner of the 2021 RWC Craft Distillery of the Year, 10th Mountain is an unapologetic and bold endeavor, fitting to their namesake.

Clark & Co’s Distilling

Another recent addition to the bevy of Grand Valley distilleries is the distinctive Clark & Co’s Distilling. Born from a passion for creating a fine spirit, Clark’s distinguishes itself from the pack with a broad selection of hand-crafted spirits, ranging from old-recipe moonshines to delicate pastises (and everything in between). Clark’s also takes family very seriously and have built their reputation around a family-friendly atmosphere to compliment their superb spirits and tasty food menu.
