We‘re helping one of our designers become rich through Spotify
Because that is how we roll
This is the story of Rix:
He is User Interface designer at Label A in our Amsterdam office. He is also a very talent singer. He released two songs so far and they are both on Spotify:
A few weeks ago we asked him how much money he’s made so far through Spotify. The answer was a mere €20 since August last year.
Apparently Rix makes €0.0006 with every stream. That is not gonna make him rich, or even buy him a pair of new sneakers. So we thought we’d help him out.
The RIX Spotify Monetizer
If you’ve ever been to the headquarters of The Next Web, you might have stumbeled upon the world’s smallest disco. Inspired by this fantastic concept we decided to make 💩 a bit more fun. We installed a tablet on the toilet, created a power source, made a simple webpage that calculates and previews how much money Rix has made so far and connected it to Spotify. And then… We just let it play Rix. On repeat. From 9 o’clock in the morning until the last person leaves the office. A little calculation teaches us that because of this, he will now make approximately 8,5 cents a day.🤑
This is what you’ll see if you sit on the toilet (while ofcourse hearing Rix’ two songs repeatedly on a decent volume):

Admittedly, we had to buy a bluetooth speaker to make this work, get a paid Spotify account, build a website which costs us manpower and we have to pay for extra electricity BUT we now have music in the toilet and Rix makes €35 a year extra.
Well worth it!😎
(Of course, most importantly, we had a good laugh making this.)
