“Bring back Steve” Georganas worked, with the people of Hindmarsh electing the one-time Labor factory worker, taxi driver, underwriter and MP, back into their corner.

Posting to his supporters largely in inner western Adelaide — including Adelaide Airport, Ascot Park, Glenelg, Morphettville, Plympton, Richmond, West Beach and West Lakes — he began by thanking the Hindmarsh community for its trust.

“You won this!”

“Thank you for entrusting me as your federal Member of Parliament,” Georganas wrote.

“It’s a true honour.

“I look forward to once again being a strong voice & advocate for our community.

“Thanks to everyone who supported and volunteered on my campaign — you won this!

“Thank you to my supporters and friends in the ALP, union movement and local businesses.”

“You made all the difference,” he said.

Boots on the ground mattered.

“Thank you to my supporters and friends in the Australian Labor Party, union movement, local businesses, and the hundreds of individuals who donated their time and effort,” the winning candidate said.

“To my campaign team — I can’t thank you enough; special thanks to my campaign managers Abbie and Cheyne.

“Most importantly… thank you to my family — my wife Wendy, my boys George and Alex, my daughters-in-law Irene and Eleni, my grandchildren Stathi, Mia and Lia, and my parents.

“Thank you for your endless support, not just for this campaign, but in everything I do,” he said.
