Ryan picked up a couple of racks of bar glasses from the kitchen counter. Tonight had been slow. The weather was as bad as a grumpy bear awoken too early from hibernation. The last customer, old Mr. Benson, had been picked up by his daughter a few minutes ago. The middle-aged woman had been afraid her father would not be able to drive home in the downpour and had picked him up. Ryan had assured her that her father’s car could stay parked out front overnight.

There would not be a crowd tonight. Ryan figured he would put a few things away, close up, and head to his rooms upstairs. An early evening would be relaxing for a change.

Relaxed was the opposite of what he felt when he saw the beautiful curvaceous brunette standing in front of him. Her hair was wet and wildly mussed like she had just stepped out of the shower. The dark, wet tresses were almost black. They framed an oval face with high cheekbones and blue eyes, the color of his favorite lake when he was a kid.

His eyes skimmed down her luscious body. The wet tank top hugged every curve. The top’s material was nearly transparent from being rain-soaked. Ryan could see the polka-dot bra underneath it. As he stared at that bra, her nipples, already making their presence known through the soft t-shirt material, rose even further to attention. His dick stiffened in response.

In the back of Ryan’s mind, he heard the groan of the kitchen door as it reached the end of its swing and reversed directions. The noise was enough to drag his mind momentarily out of his pants. He had been hit by that door enough times to move away before being caught by its powerful backswing.

As Ryan set the racks of glasses down on the nearest table, the lovely vision said “hello” in a husky voice that had him drowning in images of her bare butt high in the air and him hammering into her. Ryan clenched his jaw as he fought the urge to reach out and wrap his arms around her. The need to explore every inch of every curve of her body was almost overwhelming.

Fighting the fog in his mind caused by images of her naked on his bed, Ryan growled to himself as he tried to break the lock she had on him.

When he finally did speak, he said, “Looks like you got caught in the rain.” Ryan nearly smacked his forehead against the wall at how stupid he sounded. Way to go, Captain Obvious, he thought.

Ryan took a step forward, his jeans tight from an enthusiastic erection. He was thankful that the bar apron hid his obvious interest. “Let me get you a towel,” he said as he reached around the bar and grabbed a couple of hand towels.

As he gave them to her, Ryan was close enough to see the woman was shivering. He felt overcome by the urge to comfort and protect. It was in his nature to help where he could, but this was different. More primal.

Reaching out, Ryan wrapped an arm around her shoulders. “You’re freezing,” he said. “You need to get into warm clothes.” He guided her to a nearby chair. “Sit here. I’ll run upstairs and get you something dry to put on.”

“Thank you,” the woman said, her teeth chattering to match the shivers vibrating through her body.

Even the chills racking her body were not enough to keep his eyes from straying to the hard knobs poking through her bra. He needed to do something to keep from burying his face between those lovely mounds.

“Here,” he said, “use this until I get back.” Ryan moved the flower-filled mason jar and the clear vinyl topper at another table, then pulled the checkered cloth off and wrapped it around her shoulders.

As he did, Ryan’s thumb grazed her bare shoulder. Her skin was even silkier than he had imagined. It took all of his willpower not to wrap himself around her and run his tongue over that soft skin.

Ryan clenched his jaw and stepped back. He didn’t want to scare her. In an attempt to behave normally, he held out his hand and said, “I’m Ryan. I own this joint.”

She clasped his hand and gave him a smile that lit up the room like Roman candle fireworks on the Fourth of July. “Lindsey. Thanks for being open. I wasn’t sure I’d ever get off that road.”

Lindsey slipped her hand back out of his and wrapped the cloth around her shoulders tighter. But not quick enough to prevent him from taking another glance at those beautiful breasts straining against her wet tank top. God, they were gorgeous!

Ryan ran an impatient hand through his hair. He needed to get her some clothes to put on so she could be warm. But she also needed to hide those inviting breasts from his sight so he could concentrate on helping her.
