The La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly will give priority attention to Persons with Disability (PWDs) in the municipality, the M.C.E of LaDMA, Mrs. Gladys Tsotsoo Mann-Dedey has said.

Speaking at the function to economically empower the PWDs, Mrs. Gladys Tsotsoo Mann-Dedey said as part of the assembly’s commitment to bring hope to the PWDs, the scope of registration would be expanded to get in touch with those who have not receive the funds before in the municipality.

Mrs. Gladys Tsotsoo Mann-Dedey however insist on the beneficiaries to put the funds into good use. She warned parents and guardians whose children are beneficiaries not to use the money on funeral activities to dent the children’s future but rather invest wisely to cater for their education and upbringing.

The move was to create the enabling environment for the PWDs to venture into business and trade that they could do for their living. Mrs. Gladys Tsotsoo Mann-Dedey, the MCE of LaDMA urged the department of the Social Welfare and Community Development to do more to identify other PWDs in the municipality to equip them with the necessary training to be able to start doing something.

The beneficiaries who received between GH¢ 500.00, and GH¢ 2,000.00 respectively expressed gratitude to the LaDMA for facilitating the disbursement of the funds to ensuring their wellbeing. One of the beneficiaries said, “Today marks the journey to my salvation, thank God I have been remembered”

In an interview with Hajia Salima I. Imoro (head of department social welfare and community development) and Mr. Ebenezer Okyere, an officer of the department at LaDMA, said the department would do more publicity to ensure that, persons with disability in the municipality are reached to improve their living condition. He called on parents hiding their children with disability to bring them out to enable the department give them the needed help and support.
