THE Municipal Chief Executive of La Dadekotopon, Mrs Gladys Mann-Dedey, has stated she would take serious measures

to block any leakages that exist in the collection of revenue for the Municipal Assembly.
She said as a representative of the President and working in line with the President’s vision for the Assembly, she would ensure that the assembly generates the needed revenue for development.
Mrs Mann-Dedey said this in an interaction with members of the assembly after her confirmation to get to know them and begin to connect names with faces and also share with them her vision for the La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly.
“If there are any of our revenue collectors who engage in any shady deals or pocket part of the revenue collected, I would like to advise them to put an immediate halt to it.
“And if there are people who condone or connive in depriving the Assembly of the much needed revenue, I would equally advise that they put a stop to it,” she noted.
She also added that the Assembly would take steps to improve on the strategies for collecting revenue saying they will make it more efficient, more effective and more economical.
“For instance, every single plot of land, every single building in our municipality must pay the right property rate-every year. We shall devise methods for assisting residents to pay their property rates.
“Furthermore, we shall accelerate the process of approving building and development permits. Additionally, we will find innovative ways of raising extra money for the Municipal Assembly,” the MCE said.
She also stated that with government’s policy on sanitation, she would closely follow the lead of the President to make La Dadekotopon the cleanest municipality in Accra.
“We must and will find ingenious ways to tackle the myriad of sanitation problems facing the municipality. We must and will repair the roads in our municipality. By the end of my term, all the issues of sanitation should be over, and many of our roads should be in very good condition, making glad our motorists and pedestrians. With the promised Cedi equivalent of US$1m, we can do a lot,” she said.
She appealed to the members for their cooperation to achieve the targets above saying “I cannot do it all alone. Besides, being new to this place, I will need your guidance in many respects.
“For my part, I pledge to provide the required leadership and guidance and hope you will willingly and gladly assist me so that the success becomes our collective success,” she concluded.
