The La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Chief Executive Mrs. Gladys Mann-Dedey has cautioned the youth and people of the traditional area to be law abiding citizens before and after the celebration of the annual Homowo festival. According to the MCE, anyone caught attempting to cause mayhem will be dealt with according to the laws of the land.

She warned parents and relations of such persons not to call on her for pardon when caught. Mrs. Gladys Tsotsoo stressed that the laws must be enforced. The MCE gave the caution when she led the assembly members and the staff of the assembly to present assorted food items to the La Traditional Council in support of this year’s Homowo festival celebrations.

The items presented includes 28 bags 50kg maize, 20 crates of beer, about 50 crates of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, three sacks of palm fruits, two bottle of schnapps and undisclosed amount of cash. According to the MCE, chiefs and their elders play a critical role in decision making in the community and at the local level of governance, therefore there is the need for them to be supported in diverse ways to discharge their mandate effectively.

Mrs. Gladys Mann-Dedey, the MCE tasked the authorities not to relent in their efforts at maintaining peace in the community. She appealed to opinion leaders and elders to advise the youth to desist from causing confusion during the celebration. “We want to emulate the examples of Ga-mashie and Nungua” she lamented.

Receiving the items, the La mantse Nii Kpobi Tettey Tsuru III re-affirmed the traditional council’s zeal to ensure a violent free Homowo celebration. He said the existing peace is paramount to the growth of the people in the traditional area. Nii Kpobi Tettey Tsure III, commended the assembly for the annual support and prayed for success in the coming years. The chief entreated parents and guardians to ensure the wellbeing of their wards for better prospect.
