Breaking News: Brave Woman Chews off Her Own Hand to Avoid Reaching for Stranger’s Hair
Not all heroes wear capes
When Cindy Travis first noticed the electric blue braids of a local Walgreen's shopper, she felt an intense need to touch those braids.
“I don’t know what came over me. It could have been a lack of home training or a lifetime of entitlement but, I just felt an overwhelming desire to touch her hair.” said Ms. Travis, who sat recovering from her wounds in a local emergency room. It is reported that Travis spotted the blue braids as she waited for her prescription at Walgreen's.
“I know I should have asked to touch her hair but my body was not in my control at the moment and I just…reached.”
What Ms. Travis hadn’t expected was that all of her diversity training would suddenly kick into gear to save her from the ass whooping she would have surely received from the stranger with the blue hair.
Witnesses at the pharmacy say as soon as Ms. Travis’s right hand reached for the braids her left hand seized the right and then brought it to her mouth, where she violently began to bite and tear at her own arm. This would have gone on for much longer if a security guard hadn’t broken up the one person altercation. Tonight Travis is being called a hero and an ally for stopping the attack on the blue haired shopper.
“I’m no hero but I did learn a big lesson. From now on I will look with my eyes, not with my hands.”
