In life, we have to be able to roll with the punches and pick ourselves back up. There’s no such thing as a smooth ride. Life is filled with difficulties. We have to adapt and re-adapt, both the way we think and the way we approach our lives and relationships. That’s because we humans are capable of significant growth. And that’s a powerful thing. Increase your emotional and mental resilience by moving from a non-adaptive way of coping and thinking to a more adaptive way of existing.

What is adaptive thinking vs. non-adaptive thinking?

Generally, there are 2 types of thinking that we allow ourselves to fall into. And these two subtypes of thinking (adaptive and non-adaptive) affect everything from the way we relate to others to the way we face hardship. Those with more rigid or non-adaptive thinking can find that they face challenges with a maladaptive coping style. They can struggle to control stress and struggle to make sense of their own role within the chaos of it all.
