CEO MĂ©diaperformances

MĂ©diaperformances recently joined Lafayette Plug and Play as a corporate partner, and we are glad to reveal who is behind this great company and their role within the European retail industry

About MĂ©diaperformances

MĂ©diaperformances was created 33 years ago by RĂ©my Gerin, an idea born during a trip to the United States. MĂ©diaperformances is part of the Shopper Marketing & Cie group, also founded and chaired by RĂ©my Gerin, which has €50 million annual revenue.

Shopper Marketing & Cies is a group of companies, owned by its directors and founders, which delivers marketing services to Major retailers and their clients. The mission of each of these companies is to develop and execute solutions that deliver “triple wins”, that is to say having value for the shopper, the retailers and the brands.

Created in 1985, Médiaperformances is the undisputed leader of « shopper media » in France. Médiaperformances caters to world renowned brands as well as Media Agencies, offering a wide range of solutions that influence consumer buying behaviors. Over the years, Médiaperformances has developed longstanding partnerships with eminent retailers such as Carrefour, Auchan, Monoprix, E. Leclerc, Cora, Intermarché, Carrefour Market, System U, Simply Market and Supermarket Match. Médiaperformances boasts a large client base, comprised of more than a hundred FMCG and non-food actors like Danone, Nestle, Unilever, Mondelez, Groupe Seb or Coca-Cola.

Hence, MĂ©diaperformance has acquired a certain expertise and know how, enabling it to deploy an array of complimentary solutions in major food hypermarkets and supermarkets, thereby making MĂ©diaperformance the leader of “shopper media” in France.

1) What are the biggest innovation challenges / projects for Médiaperformances in the years to come ? What are the technologies you identify as crucial within the e-commerce and retail industry over the next few years?

For more than 30 years, MĂ©diaperformances has adapted itself to changes in the retail & FMCG industry. The years to come are very exciting as it is the first time technology is so important in the retail industry.

Data management, IA, blockchain, social media are now part of each retailer’s or supplier’s strategy. It is crucial for us to be part of this.

2) What are your expectations concerning this partnership with Lafayette Plug and Play ?

In order to answer to these new challenges, we need to find agile and expert partners. We don’t have enough internal resources to find these « nuggets » by ourselves. That’s why we are so excited about the partnership with Lafayette Plug and Play. We are convinced it will accelerate our innovation process. đŸ™ŒđŸœ

3) Your feedback on your trip at Plug and Play in the Silicon Valley ?

What I liked the most in Sunnyvale was the personality and the accessibility of the Plug and Play founder : Saeed Amidi. The pitches were so full of energy and I had the feeling that competition was positive. Corporations & Startups involved have a very clear vision and the Plug and Play model enables all the constituents to deal with very different projects and project leaders. The appointment system to set up meetings with the startupers during the events was easy and efficient. Last but not least, I really enjoyed the moment, very early in the morning, when jet laggers met up on the terrace.
