Our Google Residence in Lafayette Plug and Play

An expert Google Ads joined the Team of LPNP during 3 days to coach our startups on their Google Ads strategy. Check out the best advices our Expert gave us during this Google Immersion.

Please meet Romain :

Romain Gaurat, Accelerated Growth Account Strategist @Google

What’s your feedbacks after 3 days in immersion in Lafayette Plug and Play ?

Inspiring. I met sharp, driven and curious people! I was easily carried by their vision. This reflects a qualitative sourcing! Startupers come from very diverse backgrounds, hence the profiles are all different. Here some very young entrepreneurs are working close to experienced gurus.

The program of Lafayette Plug and Play is definitely fruitful:

  • The retail focus allows startups to share market knowledge and insights
  • They share networks to unlock opportunities through meeting with corporates
  • The startups value external coaches coming for “expert sessions” and other events. They have a high/relevant level of experience, and give pragmatic and actionable advices.

I’ll bring with me a fundamental for growth that was reminded to me during these 3 days: connect startups together brings value to everyone. The entrepreneurs I met seem to learn a lot from each other, from sharing the challenges they face and the diverse previous experiences they had before being here. Google is a big, yet agile company but many of our teams can benefit from such an approach.

You challenged our startups through one2one meeting, tell us more about the relevant items they are asking for ?

SEO, lead generation through website, reporting, analytics, budget optimization, …So much to do !

Addressing the b2b market, startups are often engaged in long sales cycle actions, such as cold calling, emailing and other direct approaches. But they seem far away from an online strategy to increase the lead generation.

Where are these potential customers online? How to find them and create engagement with their brand?

The services they provide are very “niche” and investing in awareness will be rewarding in the long-term, even if it will not bring cash in quickly. Are they aware of such marketing actions, offline and online, specific to their market?

And conversely, on what they challenged you?

On everything ;). But especially on how Google can provide support and specific resources to startups. As well, many of them pointed out the difficulty to understand SEO mechanics.

The Value This Google immersion bring to our Startups ?

  • With the 1:1 coaching, a customized approach to each start-up, focusing on how we can help them grow with online acquisition.
  • A closer relation between Google and Startups, with Google being a partner of Start-ups
  • An immersion of Google in the startup ecosystem to go deeper in their strategic pain points, and how to address them

Natalie Head of Sales of Cappasity, US Startup of LPNP

Cappasity already uses Google Ads as part of the PR campaign run for the coming crowdsale of ARToken (the cryptocurrency which will power the global blockchain-based ecosystem for 3D/VR/AR content exchange). For us, it was useful to get the feedback from the Google professional and get recommendations for our strategy improvement.

Guillaume L’Hostis, CTO of Kronos Care, FR stratup of LPNP

The presence of a Google expert directly in the office of the Lafayette Plug and Play Accelerator enabled us to express very easily our needs and to understand more in detail how can we leverage on the promotional tools Google. Moreover, Romain was very accessible, helped us to identify our business goals and build a successful AdWords campaign that we will be setting up next month.

What is the Approach of Google for B2B business and how they can help startups growing their business online ?

Today we want to help startups with a “OneGoogle” approach. We centralized our resources in one dedicated website (startup.google.com), and we are deploying a framework Start / Grow / Scale in which our teams will support startups at their different stage of development.

Google is known for addressing B2C product market, but it could be an amazing tool to reach key decision makers, who are online too and often outside office hours! Google built an audience suite allowing B2B advertisers to reach millions of business users. They can take advantage of the integration of their CRM into Adwords to find their prospects online on Google platforms.

François Bracq

François Bracq, Head of Startup Relationship at Google & Mentor @LPNP . We propose a large range of product to help startups growing their business faster. As, Ads, Cloud, Machine Learning, Youtube, Aps,… From early stage to late stage startup, Google is a valuable tech partner for their growth.

And this is just the beginning. 🤗 Lafayette Plug and Play and Google will follow up this immersion with several “tech rendez-vous” with Google Expert in Deep Learning, … in order to go deeper in the coaching.
