A partnership with a leading global international energy company

We are very proud to announce that we have just made a historical step for the future of energy distribution. Today, at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi we have signed a global partnership with TAQA, an international energy company listed in Abu Dhabi and operating in 11 countries across four continents, to open a new chapter in wireless and sustainable energy distribution thanks to lasers powered by lab-grown diamonds. Under the terms of this agreement, TAQA will leverage LakeDiamond’s power beaming technology to strengthen its energy evacuation system and facilitate sustainable, clean, and safe electricity distribution.

The partnership will focus on projects where energy produced by TAQA can be wirelessly transmitted through lasers incorporating lab-grown diamonds to high power photovoltaic panels located up to several kilometers away and converting light into electricity. LakeDiamond lab-grown diamonds will be used to enable the laser beam to remain strong enough over long distances to power photovoltaic cells. Instead of using electrons traveling down costly cables, the energy will instead be carried by photons traveling through the air.

A partnership to leapfrog costly investments in electricity infrastructure for sustainable energy distribution, and economic development

This technology will allow to leapfrog costly investments in electricity infrastructure for sustainable energy distribution, and economic development. In fact, energy transmission via laser can be used to supply the least developed areas on the planet with electricity, and to channel electricity to remote areas without the need for building costly infrastructure, which is one of the current limiting factors development in certain countries.

A new technological development in wireless power beaming made possible thanks to lab-grown diamonds

This new technological step in wireless power beaming is been made possible thanks to the lab-grown diamonds produced by LakeDiamond, which allow the high concentration of power needed at the light source within the laser for the light rays to remain perfectly parallel in order to travel several kilometres.

Also, due to its specific infrared wavelength (colour), even with typical power densities of 1,000 times that of the sun, LakeDiamond’s safe power beaming technology does not damage skin or eyes and is efficiently and safely transmitted through the atmosphere. The design of the laser combines several beams in parallel to further increase emission power and diamond is used to dissipate heat away from the heart of the laser, thus ensuring optimal operation.

A first application already planned in Morocco

As a first project under this partnership, the two companies will deploy this new wireless solution to add redundancy to energy distribution to a critical energy industrial asset of TAQA in Morocco. There, lasers will be used to power the asset directly.

LakeDiamond’s first industrial partnership will require large amounts of ultra-pure lab-grown diamonds to produce power beaming lasers.

Today’s agreement is LakeDiamond’s first industrial partnership for use of lab-grown diamonds in power beaming, the second of the four markets for the company’s lab-grown diamonds for industrial use, along with micromechanics, electronics and biotech.

LakeDiamond short term ambition is to fund the scale up of the company in order to reach large production capacity of ultra-pure lab-grown diamonds in order to capture industrial scale business opportunities.
To complete its ambitious roadmap, LakeDiamond launched an ICO and offers the opportunity to purchase minutes of diamond production in the form of tokens in order to capture some of the company’s expected revenues.
