On Mariposa Avenue, in El Segundo — a neighborhood in the heart of Los Angeles, California — sits a newly erected modern edifice two stories tall and 120,000 square feet in circumference. Inside it resides two full basketball courts.

This is the Lakers new home, or more formerly known as, The UCLA Health Training Center.

In addition to the double-court gymnasium, the facility features a weight room that opens onto the court, a theater-screening room, an indoor-outdoor lounge, a kitchen run by a nutritionist, two pools, a barber shop and more.

For the Lakers superfans out there, here are several ways to lay eyes on the new facility.

1. Participate in Lakers Community Outreach Events

The team hosts several community outreach events each year.

Among these is their Building Bridges with Basketball program and Camp Lakers.

Last year, for their Building Bridges program, the franchise hosted pickup basketball games at the Lakers former practice facility between the Los Angeles Police Department and members of the community. If the Lakers continue this program, select LAPD officers and youth basketball players on teams within the South Los Angeles area could get the opportunity to set foot in the Lakers new home.

For Camp Lakers, an annual summer basketball clinic for kids, the Lakers provide children the opportunity to shoot around on their practice court, tour the locker room, view the championship trophies and play with the players. Unfortunately, this year’s program is now over. However, this is a yearly event, so if your child wants to play where the Lakers play, keep an eye out on the Lakers site for registration forms in early June.

2. Attend Laker Girl Events

The Laker Girls will use the new practice facility to host events of their own.

Like the team, they host several community outreach events each year. One of their longest running events is their annual Fit for Life Dance Clinic where they promote the importance of proper nutrition and exercise.

This event, regularly hosted at the Lakers practice facility, is open to season ticket holders. In this initiative, kids get the chance to learn the same dance routine the Laker Girls use during games. Parents are also welcome to attend and set foot on the court.

3. Become a Season Ticket Holder

Many organizations offer exclusive perks to season tickets holders. This can include free giveaways, access and tours of their home venue, as well as the opportunity to meet coaches, owners, and even players.

It’s unclear whether a tour of the new practice facility is part of the Lakers season-ticket-holder package, however this is not beyond the realm of possibility.
