The Lakers Need to Finish Their Shots

The reason the Lakers can’t win isn’t because Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram or Brook Lopez occasionally sit out because of injuries.

It’s because the entire team can’t consistently finish their shots.

Re-watch the Lakers first four pre-season games.

Time and time again, players are floating the ball into the basket either by a jumper or off the glass.

Floating you say?

Yes. Floating.

The players are releasing the ball with what feels like THE softest touch, causing it to hang in the air in jeopardy of being blocked.

What’s worse is plenty of these floaters happen when players come off the fast break, completely open.

My point — Maybe it’s not so easy, but why go for layups when you can finish the shot and slam the ball into the basket?

Yes, Larry Nance, Kyle Kuzma, Julius Randle have all put in their share of dunks, but look at the tape. This isn’t always the case. Kuzma and Randle still put up their share of floaters.

If the Lakers had been more aggressive, they could’ve easily won their first game against the Timberwolves (99–108) and should’ve won the following two games against the Nuggets (107–113 & 107–128).
