“Starfinger is probably the most cowardly of the major villains of the thirtieth century”

Starfinger (First seen: August, 1965)

Starfinger is our lamer of the day. He has no powers, is a “poor combatant”, and yet, took on the 30th century’s greatest super-hero team, the Legion of Super-Heroes. It’s good to know lame isn’t just for the 20th century.

Here we go again: Yet another DC character who “possesses no known powers”. What’s with that?

Anyway, Starfinger’s alter ego was Dr. Lars Hanscom. This poor doctor was so freaked out about aging that when Lightning Lad was under his care, the obvious thing to do was hypnotize him into becoming a villain and have him go collect some rejuvium, which as everyone knows, will restore youth to even the maddest of scientists. Or doctors in this case.

Let’s hypnotize the electricity guy! What could go wrong?

I guess later, in an incredible show of will for a POWERLESS GUY, Doc Hanscom took up the Starfinger identity himself. Why? Because in the DC universe, step one in becoming a costumed hero or villain is apparently:

BE POWERLESS.
