Anna Wintour is a British-American journalist and fashion industry icon. She was born on November 3, 1949, in London, England. Wintour’s parents were both journalists, and she grew up in a family that valued the importance of current events and culture. She completed her education in the United States, where she attended North London Collegiate School and later studied at a boarding school in Massachusetts.

Wintour first began her career in the fashion industry at Harper’s Bazaar as a junior fashion editor in 1970. She then moved on to become fashion editor at Viva in 1975 before joining the staff at New York as its fashion editor in 1981. She was quickly promoted to editor-in-chief of British Vogue in 1985, where she served for two years before taking over as editor-in-chief of American Vogue in 1988 — a position she still holds today.

Throughout her career, Wintour has become one of the most powerful and influential figures in the fashion industry. She has used her position as editor to shape the industry’s narrative and predict trends before they happen.
