The top single of the track “Love” gives into Lana’s typical tragic romantic side of her nature. Like most of the tracks on this album, and throughout her music career, the sound of this album takes a modernist twist on a nostalgic sound. A key difference in this album of the musician’s is the inclusion of her politcal views with “God Bless America-And All The Beautiful Women In It” and “When the World Was At War, We Just Kept Dancing.” Written before the national Women’s Marches and in response to “finding pleasure in a Trump Era.” This is new for the Lana as her previous songs haven’t taken a political twist.

Another new factor of this album is the hip-hop vibe given. With features from ASAP Rocky, Playboi Carti, and the Weeknd album takes a more modern shift. The inclusion of trap beats and musicians drives the album to the younger crowd and those who typically stick to the hip hop genre.

Overall, Lana Del Rey’s album is full of the catchy hums and unique phrases we are used to getting from her. She takes changes with her features and they pay off for the album. Each song tailor correctly and paid great attention to. Lana Del Rey’s 5th studio album is consistent with who she is and what she’s comfortable with making, but shows greatly intricacy with her sound and making more bold choices.
