That’s right… real life, actual sports are back at Longwood. Field Hockey and Men’s Soccer ended their preseason campaigns this past week, while Women’s Soccer officially began their 2017 campaign on the pitch.

Women’s Soccer (1–0)

Storms spoiled Longwood’s official start to the season Friday night at the University of Richmond, so Sunday’s home opener against reigning SWAC champ Howard became the new starting point for Longwood. Annie Boros scored in the fifty-fourth minute and that was all the Lancers would need in a 1–0 victory over the Bison.

Todd Dyer’s squad host CAA opponent Towson on Thursday night and then the team will head to Marshall on Sunday. Longwood lost to the Thundering Herd 1–0 in Farmville last season.

Last Week: W 1–0 vs Howard
This Week: 8/24 vs Towson, 8/27 at Marshall

Men’s Soccer (0–0)

The Lancers finished up their preseason last week losing to nationally ranked Charlotte 3–2 and Wright State 3–0. The season officially kicks off on Friday against VMI, a team Longwood beat 4–0 last season. The team will then embark on a four game road trip after the home opener.

Field Hockey (0–0)

Preseason games were held both days this weekend for the field hockey squad. Longwood lost 4–2 to Richmond on Saturday and beat Division II Queens 10–0 on Sunday.

The season officially gets under way on Friday when the Lancers host Villanova before heading to Towson on Sunday.
