A big addition for Longwood today both figuratively and literally as Longwood has added Sudanese big man Abraham Deng to the Class of 2018.

Deng committing to become a Lancer is the first huge impact on the program from new Longwood assistant Mo Williams. The 6'11, 215 lb big originally had offers from VCU, Temple, St. Joseph’s, Old Dominion, and Lafayette. Due to slow processing from the African schools Deng attended, Deng was an extremely late qualifier for NCAA play. Coach Williams hard work and perseverance helped Longwood land the big man.

Deng played this past year at Valley Forge Military Academy in Pennsylvania. The most recent DENG Basketball Camp said the following about Deng:

Active on glass at both ends and good rim protector. Improving touch around the basket and feel to find gaps on guard penetration. Has good footwork on back to basket post moves and face up game. Shows a real willingness to learn with huge upside/potential.

He averaged 8 points and nearly 10 rebounds during the camp to earn a three star rating.
