Baseball (13–25, 5–10)

A forgettable season continued on the diamond this week as Longwood got thumped at #11 UVA and then lost a rather pivotal series at home against Winthrop.

The Lancers are now dead last in the Big South and only have three series left to make up ground. The first starts this week with the conference home finale against Liberty.

Last Week: L 13–2 at #11 UVA, W 9–7, L 15–4, L 7–3 vs Winthrop
This Week: 4/25 vs VCU, 4/26 at JMU, 4/28–30 vs Liberty

Softball (19–25, 8–7)

It doesn’t come any bigger than Longwood’s weekend sweep of Charleston Southern. The Lancers were in danger of not making the Big South Tournament that they are hosting and now find themselves in third place in the conference.

The good news is Longwood has now won seven of their last nine conference games. The bad news is the Lancers are still struggling to score and averaging just 1.75 runs per game over their last eight. Conference leader Liberty awaits this week and Longwood needs their bats to heat up to be a series contender for the conference title once again.

Last Week: L 8–0, L 7–4 vs ECU, W 3–2, W 2–0, W 3–0 vs Charleston Southern
This Week: 4/25–26 at Liberty

Lacrosse (7–10, 3–4)

Longwood thumped Presbyterian and Gardner-Webb on the road this week by a combined margin of 44–8 and locked up the fifth seed in the Big South Tournament.

Longwood will travel to #4 Liberty in the Big South quarterfinals. The Lancers lost to the Flames 18–8 at home earlier this season.

Last Week: W 23–1 at PC, W 21–7 at GWU
This Week: 4/29 at #4 Liberty
