Baseball (9–15, 3–3)

It wasn’t the best week on the diamond as Longwood lost at VCU in 13 innings and then got waxed by Radford in two straight before salvaging a game at the end of the series.

After a strong performance last week, Devin Gould only went four innings against the Highlanders giving up six earned runs while striking out seven and walking six batters. Saturday’s first starter, Cody Wager, did not fair much better going five innings and surrendering five runs against the rival Highlanders. Steven Farkas got the start in game three but left after three innings (he did not give up a run). Zach Potojecki came in for Farkas and pitch over five innings where he gave up one run and struck out nine.

Longwood will now take a week off of Big South and weekend play. All that is on the slate this week is a road match up with North Carolina Central and a home game against VMI.

Last Week: L 4–3 at VCU, L 10–0, L 16–6, W 7–1 at Radford
This Week: 3/28 at NC Central, 3/29 vs VMI

Softball (10–16, 1–2)

With a week off of Big South play, Kathy Riley’s squad swept Towson in Farmville. Biz McCarthy picked up her second win of the year in the first game, going just over five innings and giving up three earned runs while striking out three Tigers.

Sydney Gay (8–8) was dominant in game two going five innings and giving up just two hits and one run. Jordan Clark had a home run, five hits, and five RBI in the doubleheader.

Longwood will host Virginia for a mid-week double dip, before starting conference play at Winthrop next weekend.

Last Week: W 5–4, W 8–2 vs Towson
This Week: 3/28 vs Virginia (DH), 3/31–4/1 at Winthrop

Lacrosse (4–6)

Longwood finished off non-conference play with a double-digit loss against George Mason. The Lancers head into Big South play on a three game skid and will look to snap that at Radford next weekend.

Last Week: L 23–13 vs George Mason
This Week: 4/1 at Radford
