For the first time in program history, Longwood’s women’s basketball team defeated a power conference school. In November, the Lancers took down Big East member, Xavier, by a score of 67–64.

The visiting Longwood squad took command early on and led for the majority of the opening half. 2013–14 Preseason All-Conference selection Daeisha Brown paced the Lancers with 15 first half points as the Musketeers trailed 33–22 at the break.

The second half was a different story. The Lancers initially stretched the lead to 20 early on, but the Musketeers battled back midway through the second half. With 10 minutes remaining, the two teams were engaged in a tight affair. With 0:49 seconds remaining on the clock, Xavier took their first lead since the early minutes of the opening half. But that’s when senior Heather Tobeck shined brightest.

Head coach Bill Reinson took a timeout with 0:43 on the clock. The Lancers broke the huddle and 13 seconds later had the lead. Brown received the inbound pass, faked a drive to the basket, and shoved a pass to her 6'4" post player on the perimeter. Tobeck had missed a pair of 3 balls earlier in the game. The Xavier defense sagged off and Tobeck made them pay as she drained just her second trey on the young season. After making 1 of 2 from the free throw line, the clocked read 0:00 and Longwood left Cincinnati with one of their best wins in program history.

Tobeck finished the game with a double-double of 13 points and 15 rebounds. Brown had a game high 26 points along with 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and a pair of steals.
