Baseball (16–24, 6–12): The Lancers finally snapped a 10 game skid in taking a big road series at VMI. Brandon Vick and Aaron Myers had big time pitching performances to get Longwood wins on Friday and Saturday. Seven teams in the Big South are at .500 or better meaning it’s a rat race for the last tournament spot. Longwood currently stands at 6–12 a game behind current #8 seed Gardner-Webb and a half a game behind 6–11 Charleston Southern. This weekend’s series at home against 5–13 Presbyterian is of paramount importance.

This Week: 4/23 vs North Carolina Central, 4/25–27 vs Presbyterian

Softball (31–12, 14–6): It wasn’t a good week for Longwood Softball in getting swept by Coastal Carolina in a battle for first place in the Big South. The sweep dropped Longwood all the way down to third place in the Big South standings. It’ won’t get any easier for the Lancers this week with home series against Norfolk State and Virginia Tech, and a big roadtrip to South Carolina. It could be a momentum building, RPI raising week for the Lancers.

They’ll get a shot against the Big South’s other undefeated team, Davidson, on Friday before finishing the regular season at Liberty. Longwood will be the #3 seed in the Big South Tournament at the very worst.
