More and more companies are becoming increasingly environmentally friendly in creative ways. One of these methods in the vanguard are the many companies that are aiming to make a dent in the carbon emissions produced by livestock by making and selling plant-based proteins, Beyond Meat is one of these companies and the company I’ll be talking about today!

Beyond Meats is a company that prides itself on using plant proteins to form meat. Founder and CEO Ethan Brown states on their website:

At Beyond Meat, we started with simple questions. Why do you need an animal to create meat? Why can’t you build meat directly from plants? It turns out you can. So we did. We hope our plant-based meats allow you and your family to eat more, not less, of the traditional dishes you love, while feeling great about the health, sustainability, and animal welfare benefits of plant protein. Together, we can truly bring exciting change to the plate — and Beyond.

There are a couple of implications that are winning people over to start supplementing their diets with plant based proteins. The biggest of these are improving health, addressing sustainability issues, and improving animal welfare. On the Beyond Meats website there is a graphic titled “The Beyond Burger vs Animal Based Beef” and I think some of us would be surprised to see the “Beyond Burger” actually has more protein in it while also having less Cholesterol and Saturated Fat as compared to animal based beef.

I will be checking out this product personally very soon, Beyond Meat is sold in the refrigerated and frozen section of 11,000 stores nationwide including Walmart, Target, Whole Foods, and more.

BurgerFi Becomes First National Burger Chain to Serve the Beyond Burger!

The Beyond Burger boast to be “The world’s first plant-based burger that looks, cooks, and satisfies so much like beef it’s in the meat section of grocery stores.” And that sounds like something I would want to try!

As always comment if there is a business, person, anything in the food industry that is doing something interesting or if it just caught your eye, I wanna hear about it! Stay groovy, ‘till next time.
