Changbai Mountain is a very sacred mountain in my hometown. And Changbai means always white in Chinese. The main peak of Changbai Mountain is located in the southeast of Jilin Province. It is the birthplace of Yalu River, Songhua River and Tumen River. It is the birthplace of Chinese Manchu and the holy mountain of Manchu culture. The word “Changbai” in Changbai Mountains also has a beautiful implication, that is, to be a long-term guardian, to a white head, represents people’s yearning and praising for loyalty and happy love. Changbai Mountain was first seen in the written records more than 4000 years ago in China. It was called “Buxian mountain” in Shanhaijing, called “tutaishan mountain” in Northern Wei Dynasty, “Taibai Mountain” in Tang Dynasty, and “Changbai Mountain” in Jin Dynasty.

The Birth of Nurhachi

Tiannv bath bow pool is 30 kilometers east of Tiantian peak on the north slope of Changbai Mountain. It is a lake formed by volcanic water. The pool is round and deep, shaped like a lotus leaf, so it is named Yuanchi. There are steles on the round pool where the goddess bathes and bows. It is said that a long time ago, three fairies of the heavenly palace went to the round pool to bathe. A group of magpies flew out of the woods with red fruits in their mouths. Their younger sister, fogulun, was pregnant and gave birth to a boy. The boy would walk and talk as soon as he was born. This is Nurhachi, the ancestor of Manchu nationality.

The Legend of the Lock Dragon

It is said that in the great famine of the universe, a huge dragon appeared from time to time between heaven and earth, making waves, disturbing the clear and bright sun and the moon, the brilliant sky and the earth, making the twelve spirits restless.

The Jade Emperor dealt with the great events of heaven. Facing the thick memorials from the heavenly ministers, Longyan was furious, determined to punish the dragon and benefit the lower world. He immediately ordered to mobilize all the divine soldiers and generals to personally supervise the battle to help the morale and military prestige.

The battle lasted 77.49 days and went through the 9981 war. The two sides in the war are equally matched. They are very aggressive. You come and go, you enter and I block. You fight and fight bravely. Try your best. The Dragon soared, puffed, stormy; the Dragon moved, the lightning flashed, and the thunder was unstoppable. All the supernatural soldiers shout to boost their strength and march forward bravely. The sky will fight for the magic weapon wheel, and the tactics will consume the Raptors. The battle was so dark and dark that the sun and the moon were not bright, and the rivers and seas were overturned, and the earth fissures and landslides broke, and finally the dragon was subdued.

The Legend of the Fog in Changbai Mountain

The seven fairies in the heavenly palace secretly went to the world to enjoy the scenery and found the Tianchi of Changbai Mountain. Blue pool water, green mountains attracted them, and went down to take a bath. Seven beautiful girls are playing in the pool. There are many men cutting firewood beside the Tianchi Lake(it means the lake in the sky in Chinese). It’s easy to see the privacy of the seven fairies. In order to protect them, Granny Yun and grandma Wu cover them with clouds when someone peeks at them. Later, in order to let the good people in the world appreciate the beauty of fairies, an unwritten law was made, which can be seen by all the good men who don’t have a derailment, and the bad men who have a derailment.

What’s interesting is that Changbai Mountain is often covered with fog. It is said that a man can only see the sky pool once after climbing to the top of the mountain ten times . When I went to Changbai Mountain many years ago, people who came down from the top told me that it was foggy and could not see anything. But when I got to the top of the mountain, the sky was clear and we were able to see the sky pool clearly. Maybe it means I haven’t had a derailment.
