The Peralta Board of Trustees announced the morning of December 6 their recommendation to Peralta Chancellor Jowel Laguerre to “discontinue planning” future negotiations with the Oakland A’s.

The statement adds that the district will “work with students, faculty, staff, administrators and community to reimagine the District’s needs and assess the resources to meet them.”

Opponents of the stadium are still skeptical of the board’s announcement.

“ I don’t think it’s a commitment to not negotiate with the As,” wrote Laney Sociology Professor Inger Stark in an email to fellow stadium opponents, adding that she thinks the release is “just a process announcement.”

This is a breaking news story and will be updated soon.
