Real leadership is long dead

From a former fan of Senator John kerry

This is really complicated, obviously. But my calculus says that Sec. John Kerry is damaging the country more than #Snowden . I would rather respect the guy as I used to. I’d rather the NSA had the brand it used to have. I do not enjoy that I take this position. But I’m not going to delude myself.

Snowden didn’t ruin this brand. It was the overreach and the actions that the NSA, the various administrations & the action they took in their supposed “war on terror.” Whether this is actually a good thing or a bad thing is a different matter which I have unconventional opinions on. However, John Kerry is saying, “I’m still full of shit like normal, as you would expect from the government. We’re the lying politicians you assume we are.”

Kerry’s attempts to paint Snowden has a liar are not working. They’re not working in the United States, and they’re especially not working abroad.

This is corruption and it’s a natural self-correction to it. When things get crazy, people will naturally speak out. Snowden’s argument about giving up his life and going through this is a pretty good point. All one needs to do is look at Manning and others to see how much injustice there has been.

This whole thing has been a missed opportunity by the Obama Administration to have some humility and to point the finger at the Republicans, except for the fact that they would have to admit their own mistakes. This isn’t something they’re willing to sacrifice for the good of the whole. They’re not willing to let themselves take that damage for the good of the country.

The total opposite is a person joining the US military, giving up their rights, and risking their lives for the sake of the country. The leaders do not do this anymore. They do not lead, they do not run into the battle with their soldiers risking personal defeat. For them, the calculus says that the only thing that matters is 2016, or the next election, or control of the Senate. It’s been the same argument for a while. It’s always some excuse or exception that justifies avoiding doing the honorable thing.

Accountability in government is nonexistent. Sec. Clinton is a perfect example. President George W. Bush did the same thing, and he made the biggest mistakes of the bunch.

And the end of the day though, we’re all to blame because we’re too afraid of change, we’re too afraid of reform, we’re good afraid of developing a new Congress, and we’re too afraid of letting our Constitution live because we’re too stuck on the stupidest of issues which are entirely obvious to any intelligent person.

We are our own worst enemies.
