Bucks County Community College, an All-Steinway school and an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music, is showcasing student talent in a series of concerts this spring.

Seven free-admission concerts will take place on the campus at 275 Swamp Road, Newtown. Most concerts take place in the Presser Music Room, located in the Music & Multimedia Center.

On Thursday, April 18 at 12:30 p.m., the Classical Chamber Ensembles perform under the direction of faculty member Len Pierro.

The college’s Madrigal Singers, under the direction of Professor Rochelle Reed, take the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24. The Concert Choir continues the music at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, also under the direction of Reed.

The Chamber Jazz Ensembles perform at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 2. The ensembles, under the direction of Professor Michael Hoffman, consist of piano, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, drums and vocals.

At 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, the Percussion Ensemble heats up the night, under the direction of Mark Pultarok.

The upbeat sounds of the Bucks County Community College Jazz Orchestra conclude the series at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, in the Kevin and Sima Zlock Performing Arts Center, located in the Gateway Center building on the Newtown campus. Under the direction of Professor Jeff Baumeister, the group performs music ranging from big band and swing to modern jazz. The theater is equipped with audio-loop technology for the hearing impaired.

The concerts showcase the fine music education program available through the Arts Department at Bucks, whose School of Music offers a two-year associate degree in music that transfers to top universities and colleges across the country. To learn more, call 215–968–8425 or visit bucks.edu/music
