Nearly everyone has been touched by cancer. However, most people don’t realize that cancer is the №1 cause of death by disease in children. Many children with cancer are treated with drugs developed in the 1950’s. The treatment options were not much better for Mason Allen, a fun-loving and compassionate 13-year-old Langhorne teen who lost the fight to osteosarcoma in March 2017. Unfortunately, very little of the funding for cancer research is dedicated to pediatric cancer.

Join the second annual Steps Toward the Cure (STEPS), a community walk to raise funds to combat pediatric cancer, on Sept. 22 at Carl Sandburg Middle School. STEPS was established in Allen’s memory, with all proceeds supporting pediatric cancer research through the Mason Chandler Allen Memorial Foundation.

There will be hourly giveaways thanks to Piccolo Trattoria, Baja Fresh, Chick-Fil-A, Brother’s Pizza, Grub Burger Bar, Philly Soft Pretzels, Maryanne’s Homestyle Cooking and more. The event will also feature Mason’s Walkin’ Taco Stand, Vendor Row and the Kids’ Korner for family fun.

If you go: STEPS will take place Saturday, Sept. 22 from 8 a.m. to noon at Carl Sandburg Middle School, 30 Harmony Road in Levittown. Register at mcamf.org or on-site.
