My first ever blog post

First time for everything.. including actually learning a new language rather than throwing in the towel down to pure lazyness.

I was rubbish in school and never really applied myself so have always had reservations for learning in a teacher / student environment, be it in a class or one to one tuition, so I was naturally skeptical about joining Language Gym. A few more reasons (excuses) spring to mind;

1 — I’ve tried a few different methods of learning German and have failed miserably

2 — I have an incredibly busy and intensive workload that saps up the majority of my brain power

3 — I’m really REALLY lazy when it comes to extra curricular work

A few days in and we’ve not really started yet, I’ve not met Peter or my fellow classmates (except the few friends I know on the course), but I can say I’m really excited and motivated to get cracking. I’ve been in back and forth email chat with Peter on the set up of the pilot course, and have already learnt a few nifty tricks — his grid system on articles helped me see how a pattern really does take shape if you look for it.

For once I’m actually excited to learn something new, a new language, to see what new avenues it opens for me at work and out in the wild.

Let’s go!
