Self-worth is just a construct

People deny themselves great endeavors all the time because they don’t KNOW they can persevere. Our perception of self-worth comes from past failures, childhood environment, what others say about us, etc. But self-worth can also be overridden by doing exceptionally hard things. As you’re reading this, there’s a hard thing you’re thinking about doing, but mental blocks might be impeding you.

Having self-worth doesn’t make endeavors easy

Instead of doubting yourself, you ask yourself if you’re willing to pay the “costs” or not. Costs are all that remain when you transcend self-worth.

Am I willing to put in the work/time for this, yes or no?

For Finnish in particular, I have $6,000+ left in speaking lessons to get to the B1 level (lower intermediate). I’m currently at the A2 level (upper beginner). Finnish speaking lessons run an average of $30/hour on various online platforms. I will have to speak every day for a period, and this will likely take 200+ hours.

The good news is that once you’re dealing with costs and not self-worth, you’re just making cold hard calculations about what kind of effort this will
