Is It Possible to Speak a Language You Only Understand?

I took Russian speaking lessons after watching media for 7 years!

Last Monday was weird. I had an emotional meltdown where I felt that no one intrinsically cared about me outside of what I had to offer.

It was strange how the entire universe seemed to withdraw from me on the same day. Everyone seemed cold and indifferent to me all at once for no explicable reason. It was as though the world turned from technicolor to sepia.

Something was terribly wrong.

I then dialed into my emergency emotional crisis language, which has always been Russian. If I sat there and continued thinking, my mind would turn inward. Even my friend’s words seemed meaningless to me when he said, “I hope you know you’re like family to us.”

It was time to call in the Russians.

I put on Russian media, a lot of which I can understand without subtitles. The Russian mind is so deep, that it’s hard to put into words. I wrote about my experience with the Russian mind here:
